I just finished this beautiful piece. Its 1.5 - 1 metre and just glows with a golden aura. The symbol in bottom left hand corner is the first to be channeled from the Pleiadians for shifting into a new conciousness.

Honey Bee Mandala

I've been wanting to create a series of mandalas for a while now and this commission was the perfect opportunity to start one. It's a very detailed piece, as you can see, mostly using very watery acrylics but also I've just discovered water colour pencils which are great for the really finely detailed areas to define the edges and lines.

I really like the side panels where the background is golden behind the little trees and the way the dragonfly and butterfly came out.

Ive been playing with this technique of putting colours down first, then adding white over the top to define shapes, with some interesting effects. Playful, colourful and fun!!

I just finished this piece.

"Breathe in the abundance all around you. Now breathe out, gifting your abundance to the world".

"This is the rhythm of life, its vital circulation. Giving and receiving originate in each other and thrive in balance. Together they form a great circle, rising in a spiral motion. One of these cannot exist for long without the other. Giving that is not continually sourced in receiving exhausts itself. And receiving that does not flow again into the world stagnates. Both must be in motion".

My Retreat

Ive just been on retreat for a month at the Clyde River Retreat in NSW. A blissful month full of meditation, art and nature. The first weekend I was there Will Baker held a weekend course on earth energies that was great and very informative. We connected and learned to "feel" the grid lines of the earth, portals and vortexes. Will runs the retreat centre there but you can go and have your own self-directed retreat there any time aswell.

I just wanted to focus on self-healing and clearing of karmic debris and more fully integrating my higher self, which I managed quite successfully to do. Through tuning in to spirit I learnt new techniques to heal the self on the cellular and emotional levels, and to clear the residue from the physical body.

My days were spent in meditation and self-healing aswell as connecting with the nature spirits and also doing some painting. I had several commissions to do while I was away which flowed out of me very easily in these surroundings. They will soon be finished and posted here also.

This piece was a commission I recently created for a client in Australia. She had no idea what she wanted, so I tuned in and got the image for this one. When she saw it she loved it and said that her friends used to call her the goddess, which I didnt know.

Spirit is always right, you just have to flow with what you are guided to do.

New from the Studio

I recently created these little treasures for a postcard sized exhibition called Street Scapes.

I had a walk down the road by my studio to get inspired and collected lots of really cool stuff like; rusty bits, windscreen glass, grasses, leaves and anything that caught my eye.

I then put them all together to create these wonderful little treasures.

I have a new fun project to do that will keep me in my workshop for a couple of weeks. I really love getting commissions as it leads me in new directions that I may not have normally gone in. Its great to really push the boundaries and create new and interesting things.

Nature as Designer

Nature is the greatest designer of all. There are endless possibilities of colour and shape and texture that nature never tires of creating. It is just amazing, once you start looking, what you might see. Most of the time we walk around with our eyes closed not even noticing the beauty that surrounds us. Here are some examples and each one could inspire an artwork at any time.

Meditation as Inspiration

I find the best way to get inspiration for my artwork is to meditate in nature. After looking around the garden or the bush at all the wonderful things there, colours, shapes, patterns, insects and really connecting with the spirit of nature, I sit and close my eyes. Then I take a few deep breaths and clear my mind and the images and ideas just flow to me. I tend to feel this inner peace aswell as a bubble of joy in my stomach. It just feels so good to take that time to connect with nature, so healing and inspiring. You can be at the beach or in the bush or on a mountian top, just remember to tune in to nature next time you are having a creative block.

Gesso & Texture Paste

Gesso or texture paste is such wonderful stuff to create your texture with. Its an acrylic medium that is alot thicker than paint and it dosent shrink as much. You can just use it as your texture coat or you can put it over other textural techniques to blend your layers together and create your painting surface.

You can apply gesso with;

Brushes

Fingers

Spatulas

Forks

Corrugated card

You could try anything and see what sort of effect you get, there are no rules. After applying the gesso you can then smear it around or scratch into it or add some sand or rice or even scratch words into it before you leave it to dry.

I basically create my whole painting in the textural layer. It gives the work so much more depth when I go to apply colour and opens up endless possibilities, its so much easier and more effective than working with a completely flat surface.

The Art of Texture

Before you start painting, to give your work a richer more 3d effect, put down some texture. One basic but very effective technique is just to glue some fabric or canvas onto your stretched canvas or board, then put a good thick layer of texture past or gesso over the top. You can scratch into the gesso or add some sand etc to add another dimension. This will give you a beautiful rich textural base to then create your masterpiece upon.

Waterhole at Dusk

This is the first of my spiritual landscape series. Its 1.5metres square so its a really big piece. I have it hanging on the wall at my studio to inspire the rest of the series to come through, or maybe just because I like the beautiful energy it exudes. It brings a feeling of peace and serenity to you, beautiful.

Wilsons Prom

After my trip to Melbourne to do the Mind, Body, Spirit Expo I went camping at the southern most tip of Australia, Wilsons Prom.

What a beautiful national park it is. Glorious colours of turquoise ocean and orange rock, hugely inspiring for me a new spiritual landscape series.

Cant wait to start!

Apophyllite to Transcend

Apophyllite is one of the best crystals to use for connecting with the higher realms of spirit and awakening the soul purpose within. It has direct access to the akashic records and can help one to ascend to their highest vibration of clarity and light. Its pure sparkling energy makes it one of those crystals which you always want to have around you at all times. It keeps you clear of any clutter, mind, body, spirit and helps you to stay on your own personal path of light. I use it often in meditation for clearing the channels to spirit and bringing in new ideas and inspirations.

Opposite colours

When I went for my walk today I found these beautiful bright red leaves set against the background of vivid green. It reminded me of how well opposite colours go together and when used in a painting can have a striking effect.

The alembic for humanity

This is the last piece that I did. It is mixed-media on canvas and it turned out beautifully. It just glows with a radiance of colour and light. The alembic still was a copper still used in alchemy to purify and transform substances. So this painting represents a place for humanity to be transformed and purified to our highest potential.
As we are working towards our highest potential or vibration we need to fully focus on being present in the now and making the highest choices we can at any given moment. Peaceful outcomes for everyone.
